I ordered an L-I yesterday and since it will be a second batch of production we will see how long it takes to arrive.
I can see that I will be on a quest for a naked portafilter, and maybe a single PF, and perhaps some smooth walled baskets, unless my VST baskets will work.
An arrival for Christmas?? One can only wish and maybe write a letter to Santa :-0
Yes, and that is why Craigs List will be getting some goodies from one of my other hobbies, kayaks :-)
If I really like the L-I and it performs as advertised then the LM GS/3 will go up on the chopping block.
It also looks like I will be trying to get a naked portafilter and a single PF. Then there is the basket question; I prefer smooth walled baskets like my VST's but everything I have read says that the baskets and the grind/dose is the tricky part of this, or any, lever machine. Levers are new to me so te learning curve has begun.

Perhaps with a manual lever, as the DIY pressure can vary a bit, but with a spring lever, the pressure profile is the same, unless you use your hand to slightly restrict the lever rise, slowing down the shot. basically, smooth walled baskets are just easier to remove when the PF has it's spring in there.

You are correct. The smooth walled baskets make changing them and weighing them with grounds much easier, not to mention dumping the puck. Adjusting the spring tension also makes things easier for both ridged and ridge-less baskets.
Adjusting pressures with hand/arm action is much more in the way of feedback on the Barista than moving a paddle and watching a gauge.

I have just ordered a Londinium 1 as well. Hopefully it makes it to New Zealand before Christmas!!
I have exchanged a few emails with Reiss and he seems extremly helpfull. I had a problem paying onine with AMEX and he was going to look into it to see if he could sort out the problem, but I couldn't wait so I just put it on the Mastercard instead.

I too have found Reiss very helpful. I think other manufacturers should take note of good customer service!!
I too used AMEX, but through PayPal and so far no complications, just a hefty bill. I also ordered other things while I was there, like lube grease :-)
We might have a Merry Christmas, and a sore arm from pulling waaaay to many shots. Just kidding about the arm, the single spring Bosco Group is pretty easy to pull if your bench height is providing the proper geometry between you and the lever.
If I have to go somewhere and I want espresso, and have an accomplice, we can put the British made machine into the back of my other British machine, a MINI Cooper, and pull shots for our car club :-)

So, can Reiss add some pounds coffee to the box? Maybe some his cups? Or is it another shipping charge? I am shocked how fast they got to the USA. It doesn't seem possible they could have gotten here in 3 days.

Since I have not received "The Package" I have no clue if the L-I will be in one box and the rest of the goodies I ordered in another box. I should know before Christmas :-)
