You are correct. Wants and needs are two different things. I'd love to have a dedicated espresso only lever and it would be nice to have the caravel and elektra to test side by side but that's not going to happen.
For those times you just want a short sweet shot, a Caravel is the thing. The MCAL will give you slightly larger shots by volume than an MCAL, but the Pontevechio Lusso will be far more temperature stable. Why not just get either the MCAL or the Lusso? Both spring assisted, as you want. A Caravel is fully manual, doesn't steam.
