Hi,

Having issues of late with my Bezzera Strega.  I've had the machine for over a year purchased used on here and it's been great, but as of late Ive been getting a lot of splatter spay and weird double drips at the start of the pour, I've owned many machines over the years and can't figure out what going on?  I've tried different beans grinds and coffee weights, tamp pressure, but still having issues.  The coffee still taste great but something is off.  I also use a Vario grinder the version with the scale.   17.2 grams of coffee, bottomless filter, counter culture beans work the best and I buy them local 1/2 lbs to 1 lbs at a time.  I cleaned all external and everything I can get to easy but didn't take apart any eternals or flush with cleaner threw the machine, could this be a cleaning issue does anyone have guild lines on cleaning this machine particular model?  What else am I missing? I also use bottled water from a 5 gallon home cooler

thanks in advance for your time. Jeff-

Hey Jeff:

I'd say it is definitely time to take off and clean the dispersion (group) screen, and given the fact that you've owned it a year it is likely time to clean and re-lube the piston seals (especially since you didn't say how long the previous owner owned it and what maintenance he did).

A lot of good info at The Home Barista

Best,

Rick
