Posted Thu May 1, 2014, 7:15pm Subject: Spring Lever Group Wrench
Yesterday I pulled and lubbed the group from the Izzo Pompei. Had to use a table vice to break lose the lower piston. Once this was done, removing the seals and teflon ring was easy. After cleaning and applying a thin layer of grease, I re-assembled and tried to install from top. No go as the teflon ring had expanded.
I removed the piston, seal, and teflon ring and inserted the remaining group from above. The teflon ring was worked in from below, followed by the remaining lower pieces and tightened with a homemade pvc tool suggested in another post. But there was not enough room for the c-clip. Afraid of breaking the pvc tool to create more space, I decided to use an adjustable spanner wrench. It fit perfectly and made tightening a breeze without rubbing.
