I know this is an old thread, but I just completed this mod...I think. There is a small o ring on the silvia wand. When I tried using this when installing it, the wand and nut wouldn't grab the threads inside the Gaggia. So, I removed it and just used the Gaggia nut and the Silvia wand. It all fits ok and I get steam, so do I need the little o ring?

I just noticed that espressoparts.com has the Rancilio wand on sale with free shipping. I ordered the wand and the adapter that Randytsuch suggested (thanks for finding that). Came out to about $26 shipped for both but they won't be shipping the wand until the week of 11/30- Not good if you're in a rush I suppose.
Thanks for all the info in this thread folks, I really hate my Gaggia Classic wand and can't wait to replace it.
