Looking for PID kits for my Silvia. I know Watlow is popular as well, but pricey. I dont want to have to program a raw PID so I'd prefer a kit. Any opinions on these two resources?
I purchase from Auber all the time. I give the company 2 thumps up. I purchase PIDs, thermocouples, and SSRs.

I have used Auber PIDs as well They do have an auto tune function They are inexpensive and certainly up to the task of working on a Silvia If you are making only one cup of espresso an auto tuned PID will work fine, just let it warm up long enough But if you need two cups at a time you will have one cold cup waiting for the boiler to re-stabilize The Fuji and Watlow units are far superior but way over kill for your use They have features the Auber does not have or allow you access to and you will not need to control the boiler Pay the extra if you like Do some extra searching on tuning the PID and you will have a much faster well controlled machine than a simple auto tuned unit
I agree PIDKits is the way to go. Jim's experience and service are excellent.
I have a cheaper Delta PID and 2 Watlows The Delta and one of the Watlows are in my roaster controller, and the other Watlow runs the Solis SL-70. The Watlow documentation is far better. Regarding Autotune, I found that the autotune would allow too much overshoot, which I found took a long time to wait for the boiler temp to come back down. Tuning the PID is really not that much bother, and worth it in my opinion.

Is there a unit that would be better at being moved to the next machine when the time comes? That machine would be a DB or HX machine. That however is a good ways off if even in the forseeable future at all.
