To remove the star wheel, you need to remove the screw from the top of the adjustment knob, sometimes it has been lost or removed before you got the grinder so if you only have a threaded hole here, you are OK. Next remove the adjustment knob. When you do this, the upper wheel will be pushed up by a spring under the upper wheel, you will need to compress against the spring to reinstall the adjustment knob later.
When you reinstall the upper star wheel, I have found it is easier with the blades taped in place to look under the doser and through the exit hole to align the upper wheel to the lower wheel, make sure you do not knock off the blades when you line things back up.
Also, there is a notch for the flat sheet steel that is attached to the upper wheel to fit into located in the doser housing, you need to make sure these are lined up also, just saying.

Well, now that it is all assembled back (just reverse the disassembly steps to reinstall) it is time to see if it works. I have ground a bit of coffee into the doser here.

A few rapid flicks of the lever and all of the coffee is out of the doser. There are some crumbs on the flat plate and I have not devised a way to tighten the fit between the upper wheel and the flat plate of SS and on some dosers, there are some crumbs left, they are easily moved with a puff of air or a brush and if it does not bug you, there really isn't enough to affect the next shot so they can be left but then again as I said, if it bugs you, you can clean them off. Some grinders have a tighter fit here than others, I don't know why.

Looks awesome Wayne! Next time I "re-do" my doser I will give this a try!
As for the upper part fo the star sweeping the segment plate, I have something that works, but isn't very easy to make or document. I use some pipe cleaner cut the same length of the arm for shape and attach it to the upper star arm by wrapping around to encase it with electrical tape. Then I moosh and smoosh (mush and smush?) it until it likes to brush over the plate while still rotating smoothly.
When I do it again then I will try to take some pictures of that as well.

Thanks very much for taking the time to do that detailed how to!
You know those people that want to tell you how to raise your kids but have none of their own? That is how i feel when someone with a kitchen appliance tells me how the merits or dis-merits of my machine or how to use it.

Thanks guys, anything to help. LOL, It took longer to take the photos, resize them to fit on the board then write and post than it takes to do the whole mod, well if the doser is off anyway.
