Subject: Laranzato ECCO 2 Group  - Good Purchase for $100???

I have a chance to purchase a Laranzato ECCO 2-group machine that, according to the seller, needs reconditioning.  I never heard of Laranzato before but I checked out their website and they do make some really beautiful machines.  Ever since getting my first espresso machine last summer, a Starbucks Barista, I have been enthralled by the espresso world and am always looking for cheap, used machines that I can play around with and fix-up or recondition (I love to tinker!).  What do you guys think of this deal and in Laranzato in general?  I am afraid I may be biting off more than I can chew, so to speak, but then again it's only $100??  What to do?

Here's some pics:  Can anyone identify what exact model this is and approx how old it may be?

UGG - Just found out that the heater element is 5,000W and runs on 220V/21A!  Plugging that in would blow my house up! Oh well guess it won't be coming home with me afterall.

Don't be too sad. It would probably cost a minimum of another $600 to get in running order not considering the electrician for the 220.

Also the gauge is pointing to the possibility of blown HX.

Interesting...how could you tell the condition by the gauge?

When water freezes in the machine it causes the gauge to break and the two needles cross over past their max range.

Not 100% sure just from that, but it's pretty common with machines that aren't stored properly.
