This is the drain plug on the bottom of my Ellimatic boiler, with the nut removed. I'm assuming that something's supposed to move when I loosen the nut so the boiler will drain (obviously not a problem at the moment). How is it supposed to work, anyway? if something's stuck, what's the best way to loosen it without damaging the boiler?

Thanks! Despite the fact that I'd soaked it in a fairly strong hot citric acid solution a couple of times already, there was so much scale buildup that the drain was pretty well glued shut. Took a little more convincing than I expected to get loose, but the plug and the boiler half are now soaking, once again, in citric acid.
Interestingly, there was no sign of scale on the inside of the boiler when I opened it up, so I hadn't expected this kind of accumulation in the drain. I'm guessing the previous owners hadn't known that it was a drain, since it's obviously been sealed shut for some time. Makes, to me, a compelling reason to stay on top of maintenance and use the drain when I descale, to make sure that buildup gets properly flushed.
This machine has turned into a real adventure, but I will know it extremely well by the time I'm finished.
