Slackenly well! Oscar has not even moved from kitchen counter to the work bench yet, that alone may take another week, LOL. I will wait until the new year to do any work, for now I will get a part list together to fix what is broken, replace what may be worn, and do at least the opv upgrade. Even though my kitty ate up $1200 of my machine upgrade (well the vet did) I might be able to swing a new machine in January which may make the Oscar one of the greatest slacker challenges I have taken on.

The case comes off fairly easilly-there are screws in the bottom that need to come out, and you need to remove the power cord from the brain.
The opv should have opened, but in my experience they open easily. The pressurestat should have shut off the heat as well, if the pressure actually rose.
Glad I re read your post. I was thinking a new heater was all I needed but the leak is not coming from the threads it attaches to the boiler at, the leak comes from the center of the element and from where the over temp fuse would go in ( however it does that). This may be the part I need to fix the leak but I might as well change the element as well. I don't think you meant that the opv but the safety valve (98013020) that sits on top of the boiler should release pressure. it opened once when one of the connections on my Pstat got stuck closed and the boiler over heated, another part I will replace.
Once I pull the fram from the shell I should have a better view of where the leak is coming from and what parts are faulty
I am considering replacing the NS element with a QM element, it is less money and 200watts more.
