Hi I was recently given this machine. It needs to have a once over and I believe have some parts replaced. I can't identify which Gaggia Coffee model I am dealing with here. Can anyone help? Does it match up with one of the wiring diagrams and parts list on this page? -----> http://www.partsguru.com/GaggiaModelCoffee.html

It looks like a newer model if that helps. It has the same switches, steam wand, and steam knob as my new gaggia classic. It's appears to have newer features than my gaggia coffee 1998.

I can't match it exactly either. Take the top off and look for a 3 way and an OPV. If those are present, it is probably a Classic under the hood. If you are unsure, post a picture of the inside. According to the review, Classic came in colors, and it was over many years.

This will be the first time under the hood of a machine, so I don't know what all the parts are. This is the biggest reason that I want the documentation. Here is a pic of the guts. The guy who gave it to me remembered that he did strip a part off of it for another machine. He couldn't remember what though.

I'll try to compare them. I did find these diagrams, but wasn't sure if the Gaggia Classic diagram there was the right one or if there were a few versions. I found that there was a white one that people seem to think is great, then another one before the Classic came out that was less desirable which I believe is what the diagram above is. Mine just looks a little different so wanted to make sure before I started confusing myself with missing parts. If it does end up being the "less desirable" one, is it worth refurbing or should I just move on? Also, can you add the OPV and 3 way solenoid to this machine even though it didn't come with it originally? Or would it even be worth doing?

There have been a few Gaggias with different boilers, but yours seems the most common type, like the Classic. This thread on Baby may help if you decide to mod. Baby is the similar insides. You can select the mods that you are interested in. OPV is a good mod to be able to adjust pressure. 3 way makes less mess with the puck, but not really important in the cup. Check the thread carefully about plumbing if you decide to mod.

If I read correctly, you have a Baratza Preciso. That is a good pairing for the Gaggia. Use the system for a while and then decide what you want, upgrade or mod. No rush to spend money, have fun.

You are over thinking this gift. The one you have will make the same shot of espresso as the "more desirable?" models. The white one becomes a door stop if the wrong part fails so be thankful you can repair anything that might be wrong with this gift.
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
