bought a used v3 silvia. added PID. then purchased pressure gauge and connected directly to empty porta-filter.
measured 10+bar.
modified OPV to 9bar.
liked the idea of having the pressure gauge, so i then permanently installed it.
my question is, being as finicky as the silvia is, has anyone identified a "better" (relative, i understand) pressure point? 10bar? 11bar? 8bar? how did the pressure change affect your pours?
what is the normal expected behavior (generally speaking) when lowering or increasing pressure in an espresso machine?
yes, i plan to experiment for myself shortly .. but it always helps to have good information from others prior to my own personal testing.

The optimum pressure for espresso brewing is 10 bar static, 9 bar dynamic. A higher pressure will yield over extracted brew and bitterness in the cup, lower pressure will yield under extraction and sourness in the cup. It is best to set the pressure to optimum and vary the grind size to get your 25 second extraction time/
