Hi there,
I recently obtained a free Fiorenzato Ducale 1 group machine which suddenly started spraying water.
After some inspection I noticed quite some scale buildup. I hooked it up and the boiler started filling. Apparently it overfills. The pump never stops. I tried cleaning the autofill probe and I even hooked it up to the ground but the pump still keeps turning.
Because even shorting out the autofill probe doens't make it stop I'm assuming the control unit (GICAR 30 Micro Z) is failing?
What else can I try to troubleshoot this machine. Because it was free I might as well go out on a limb and try and fix it. Its perfect to replace my dual group overkill machine for at home :)

sound like you've done some troubleshooting especially if you try to touch the wire probe to the boiler or to a GOOD ground connection,
make sure all ground connection are good and the ground reaches the control box for closing the autofill circuit and making sure that your water is not RO or completely soft/clean of minerals further more you can try with a glass of water but most likely it will gave you the same result jumper to ground inside a glass full of water you use other jumper to autofill probe wire (or directly to the pins o of the control box) if same result your control box assumption is correct
