Here is a simple water level indicator I built.

    Lowe’s             3/8" x 5' 160 PSI PEX Pipe                          #184720

    Zoro Tool         Madison M8000 Float Switch                       #G2923024
                            9v Battery

Nice idea, indeed.. What about using three AAA cells in a tubular battery holder that would also serve as a lifting handle for the lid and thus making it less bulky as well as shorter?

Not being critical- there are plenty of folks I know who would be considering bluetooth and an iPhone app add-on!   ;-)

Or what about putting the batteries in the PEX pipe?

I managed to figure everything out, construction wise, except how you attached the Pex pipe to the enclosure, and enclosure to lid.... I suspect a food safe compound of some sort?
