I recently picked up a gaggia xd 1 group off ebay of course for a snip. All seems to be working okay except for the element. So the pump runs, the button panel all works and the group head pre heater works.
I checked the resistance on the element to check the element hadnt blown and each element gave a reading of roughly 60ohms which i believe is about right. I then checked i was getting voltage through the rotary switch and that was fine so i followed the brown yellow and red wires from the switch to a white box at the bottom of the machine which has the 3 wires going in and then back out again. It also has a wire which goes to the center of the element. I am not getting and power out the other side of this little box. Please advise!

The probe that runs next to the element is a thermometer. It measures the heat from the elements, if they are out of the water and become exposed, the element protection is tripped and it shuts off the elements to prevent them from over heating and burning out. There should be a red button someplace on the device it's self. Push it and it should click back in place and the power should flow again to the haters.
