Hi all, I have just bought a La Pavoni Europiccola Lusso on ebay. I don't have a grinder yet and was wondering if anyone could suggest a machine that would work well with this machine.
Something that could handle ristretto size grind would be good.

Hi,
Of couse, I suggest a La Pavoni Jolly dosato domestic coffee grinder, I suggest this one, not only because it's made by La Pavoni, but because we test that grinder with Europiccola and Professional Lever machine and... I think it's the best for this type of machine.

Lorenzo's post seems almost commercial in nature...
As for the original question, the answer has to be the VERY BEST GRINDER YOU CAN AFFORD. I would use my Mazzer grinder with the LaPavoni. You surely need a grinder that is capable of very fine and very even grind, especially if you want to make ristretto. The grinder Lorenzo suggests will do the job, but for the same $300 there are other options for grinders out there. The Mazzer Mini (for an extra ~$100), Nuova-Simonelli MCI from Chris'Coffee ($50 less), Rancilio Rocky doserless (le$$ if you ask for the "best" price).
The lowest-cost alternatives are the nemox LUX, Innova i2, and LaPavoni PGC
Lorenzo's profile lists his profession as "La Pavoni Customer care manager," so he's likely well versed on his employer's products. Like any other member, he's welcome to offer his opinion, and I personally appreciate those 'in the business' who do so -- as long as their motivation remains informing those who have posed questions and eschews soliciting for business or disparaging competitors.

I think the Rancilio Rocky is a great grinder for the buck, But as others have stated the best you can afford is the way to go. I have a Pavoni myself and know how picky she can be about the grind so choose wisely...

Jon hit it right on the head. Get the very best grinder you can afford. For my money, that's the Mazzer Mini. I got mine with a coupon from WLL and ended up paying about $36.00 more than I would have paid for a Rocky (without coupon). I appreciate the fact that $400.00 is a lot to spend on a grinder, but, without a good grinder your Europiccola is nothing more than an expensive paper weight. Do yourself a favor and get the best grinder you can.

Would just reiterate the above comments and add that I've got a Pavoni JD grinder that I was using for Vacpot grinding - until recently when its burrs jammed
I don't like the machine, it's design, its performance etc. - and in value for money terms the Mazzer or the next best you can afford would in my personal opinion be a much better buy ...
