Most of the dispensed coffee from a Macap M4/M5 may land in a 58mm filter basket, but a lot misses the basket for my La Spaziale's 53mm basket. The stock grinds catcher doesn't do the best job at containing the spills, either. This is a simply designed mechanism which merely slides under the front of the grinder and is held in place by a stud which inserts into a hole on the catcher.
Are there any woodworkers out there who have crafted a larger more adequate tray? A nice walnut or cherry grinds catcher would be a beautiful and welcome addition to this machine.
I, too, have the Macap and La Spaziale (both high quality machines). Bought a stainless tray from Espresso Parts that slides under the grinder and provides lots of room for loose coffee. It's simple to remove the tray for clean up. This tray also comes with a tamp pad. I don't recall the price, but it was very reasonable.
This stainless tray is not listed in their catalog, but if you call Espresso Parts and ask for Brian he'll take care of all your needs.
