this picture is from the SJ review on this website and it looks like the SJ and mini share the same "frame".  I wonder if I could replace the mini doser with this SJ spout.  The SJ spout is attached to a plate, and I would think the plate could easily fit the mazzer mini once the doser is removed.

Any ideas?  Vendors: do you sell the part and how much (feel free to email me).

I think a lot of people would be interested in this to remove the mini doser with something better for us doser-haters =)

and the mazzer mini

maybe the "frames" aren't the same... I still wonder if it would fit, even if a little drilling was required... i love the spout (hate the doser)

Andre,  I seem to recall seeing the mini and the SJ side-by-side and the frames, while similar in design, were not the same.

The picture you posted was, of couse, a doserless SJ.  I believe the snout  on the front is referred to as the chute.

I asked one of the techs at WWL the same question about interchangeability about a year ago and she told me it was not possible to swap between the machines.

IIRC, there was a doserless Mini at one point, but it is no longer available.

Actually, she said the attachment points were different so it would not fit.  Since you are willing to tap new holes into the case (few people are, or have the equipment), I suppose that that limitation would not apply.  I do not know if you would need to do some filing to get a good mate to the curvature of the case.

NYC - Have you thought about having a chute made from cast aluminum at a machine shop.  A talented machinist could probably whip one out in an hour or so if you were able to give him a prototype (made from clay, playdough etc.) with EXACT measurments to accompany it. The hard part is you would probably need to leave your grinder with him as a guide.

cheers

I thought of that, but that'd be too much effort.. I was hoping I could find a quick replacement via parts exchange.  Maybe in the future.... I don't even know of a machine shop and I don't think I'd trust anyone to be honest... burrs could get loose or something wierd... oh well

Are you handy? You could try making something yourself with plexiglass, pvc elbow, couple of cuts, drill holes and epoxy. If it doesn't work out, you'll have invested only about $10 or so.
