OK - my addiction to cool machines shows up again!

I saw this one for sale locally and HAD to have it.
I was wanting a lever machine and this one is wonderful.

Check this out!

Here's where you fill it.  The design is an OPEN boiler.  It has a little plastic cap with vent holes to cover this opening, but the water is never boiled.  I measued the steady state temp at 92C (that's about 197.6F).  The machine keeps this temp rock-steady.  Extraction is at the same precise temp for 1 ounce or 2 or even 4 ounces.  (NO steam though - this baby is espresso only).

Here's a picture from down low.  the machine is is almost brand-new condition and it's so shiny that it's hard to get a picture without the flash making those streaks.  (There are NO scratches)

Here's the drip tray.  I would say it's a joke because it's SO small, but at least it's well-made and finished, fits well, and is stainless steel top and bottom.

The tamper it came with actually fits!  Plus it is bakelite (heavier than your average plastic tamper).  The basket it 58mm so my regular tampers work perfectly.

Look at how clean the portafilter is!!!  The machine seems to have been used, but only a few times at best.  It was actually in it's original box...

But the important question remains unanswered Jon!  How's the espresso taste?  :-D

I had this one bookmarked on ebay too, but I couldn't justify the shipping cost.  Glad it was nearby for you.
There was pretty much no information that I could find on it; only brief mentions in the alt.coffee archives.

Chris

And here's an early attempt at espresso....

It's a little thin but actually pretty tasty.  I want to play with this more because the drinks are wonderful.  Crema is thinner (so far - hehe), but the drink quality is outstanding!  I have never tasted the subtle nuances of my beans this way before.

Just awesome.....

(Of course I have been informed that one has to go - it'll probably be my ELEKTRA)

Jon,

You could get rid of the girlfriend and keep both machines!
