Subject: Saeco Stratus-Decalcifying

I have this machine and need to de-calcify it. I bought the powder packets from Saeco, but they seem to be designed for a normal espresso machine.

The Stratus will not push water through the coffee holder unless there is coffee in the machine (it has a grinder and an option to use preground.) The machine will just put up a message that there is no coffee and refuse to operate.

It is possible to run hot water through the steamer, but this is bypassing the coffee making parts.

Does anyone know the best way to decalcify this machine?

If this is a superauto, it should have a decalcifying cycle. Consult the manual for the machine. If that doesn't help email info@saeco-usa.com

Hello Jim,

No manual available, but have persevered with the menu system and, as you suggested, there is a cycle for this. Many thanks.
