ok.  It's a done deal.  Ordered the Mini E and the Expobar Office Control from WLL.  They matched prices from other places for $1449 for the combo.   Ordered another $200 of accessories.   I'm just going to tell my wife I got it with my American Express points.   LOL

Congrats!... and welcome to coffeeaddiction, I mean er, a, coffeegeek  ;0

Some things are better left unsaid. You can tell her the truth after she is hooked on your coffee.

You came to the right place - these guys & gals will have you making coffee like you never tasted before; they did for me. Keep us posted on your progress - when are you planning on roasting your own beans? :)

good luck

Way to go on the machine(s).  There are some threads around here with tips on the Expobar Office machines.  My advice to you:
  1.  Don't use the preprogrammed buttons other than for cooling flushes and for the backflush routine.
  2.  Flush a lot.  Do some testing and flush at least 8 oz JUST before locking in the PF.  At least do it once to see what the longer flushes do to the shot.  I found that my shots improved very much when I started using longer flushes.

Here are a few beginning tips.  Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the advice.  The preprogram buttons are for my wife since she hate tedious tasks.  I'm sure I'll try to learn as much as I can about the manual process.

I have read quite a few places talking about the preflush, one even with a video.  I'll certainly try that as well.  :)

Congrats on your purchase!  That's a combo that will be easy to use and can make GREAT drinks.

About the flush, it's absolutely critical with the Expobar (otherwise the shots will be very bitter).  Program one button to give ~6 ounces and use that one to flush JUST BEFORE locking in the portafilter and pulling your shot.  (Do your grind and tamp, then flush, then loack and load).

One more thing:  Steam the milk before brewing.

If you will try these steps with fresh beans (once you "dial in the grind" to get 2 ounces in 25 seconds) you will make coffee drinks like you never imagined before.  SO, here's the drill:

Put the frothing pitcher in the freezer.  Pull the portafilter from the machine and make sure the filter basket is dry.  Grind your beans, tamp the puck firmly, and set the portafilter on the counter.

NOW, go and fill the pitcher a little less than 1/2 full of milk.  Froth (see "The Milk Frothing Guide" for some tips).  Set the pitcher down and hit your flush button.  (Rap and swirl the pitcher to keep it mixed while you brew).  Then load up the PF and hit the brew switch.

When the shot's done, you can add your sugar and/or syrup to the coffee before pouring the frothy milk (so your pretty pour won't get bothered by stirring).

Oh - always taste your shots before adding anything.

We will all be looking forward to hearing your impressions once you get started.
We will also be here to help if have questions...

Great buy, wkc!
First thing in the morning, I personally wouldn't be capable of the routine Jon just posted, at least not before a few doubles. ;-)
