Greetings,
I have been spending the past two weeks getting comfortable with my new Expobar Pulser. My "ritual" has changed significantly to accomodate this HX machine and so far everything has been for the better. I'm very happy with the Expobar.
However...The portafilter has a screw-on double spout that, when seated, is about 90 degrees off from where it needs to be to easily hit the cup when pulling a shot. (It "needs" to be perpendicular to the handle). Has anyone else had this experience? Do people:
Shim the spout up with washer(s)?
Live with it crooked?
Leave it loose put positioned correctly?
I realize this is somewhat anal retentive. Feel free to just suggest counciling.
Hi Andy...one other option you left out. My Expobar arrived with the PF spout disassembled, so I left it off. When my second handle arrived, I took the spout off.
Benefits... - More space under the spout I put my mug right under it for Americanos I build capps in stainless cups by pulling espresso into stainless cup My stainless latte cups fit under it too... - No worry about uneven pours - Easier to tamp

Andy, my Isomac PFs have the same issue. I just leave them loose and pointed in the correct direction. There isn't any pressure on the flow so i don't think it is important to have it on there tight, as long as it doesn't fall/rattle off. It just redirects flow.

Mine started the same way, but I found after a couple weeks of gradual tightening it was possible to coax it into more standard alignment. I might have gently used pliers with a cloth to get some leverage while protecting the finish and being careful not to overdo it. If it's really bugging you and you want it fixed use some teflon tape wrapped around the threads. This will build it up a little. You can buy a roll at any hardware for about a dollar. Wrap it tight, screw on spout, trim excess. Repeat when you disassemble for cleaning. Make sure you don't block the hole, for obvious reasons. Kevin
