I have a Solis Maestro grinder that's driving me crazy. I use if for drip and the occasional moka, while I save pennies for an espresso machine. The static is insane. Oftentimes, I grind it and the beans don't fall, even when the hopper is full. I shake it and bang it and eventually, maybe, it starts. When I pull the bin out, grounds fly all over the place, and I routinely end up sweeping and wiping at least a scoopful off the counter and floor. This is constant. How do you de-static a plastic grinder? Grrrr.
Also, is KitchenAid any better, or do I have to buckle down and get the second mortgage to have a decent grinder? thanks Ben

Hmm, my Maestro+ doesn't suffer from static problems either and the relative humidity gets ridiculously low here in the winter. While we have static problems with other types of equipment, my grinder is fine. I wonder if this is one of the differences between the Maestro and the Maestro+?

I always used a damp paper towel and let it slowly fall over the grind bin as I removed it. Prevents a big mess and tends to keep static down. Another thing that I noticed was to grind in small batches. About 4 tablespoons at a time, empty out into whatever container you're gonna use. Then repeat. Sounds like a PITA, but so is dealing with tons of static. In conclusion, I now own a Mazzer and absolutely love the thing. Now the Solis is my travel grinder.

I moved up to a Rocky and it is a huge difference, go higher if you can. My M+ needs burs replaced as it is creating dust now after one year essentially as a drip grinder. You'd expect better.
