Hi fellow coffee geeks.
I've had several machines in the past and I recently picked up a Brasilia from an op-shop for $30. I bought it so I can take it travelling when I work out of town.
Problem is I'm not sure I know what I'm doing with it. It has 4 button lights like ::
The top left one is power
The top right one turns on the pump to extract.
The bottom left one is the water pump
And the bottom right is for the steam.

When do I use the pump and should I hold down the steam when frothing the milk?

Better still. Does anybody know where I can get an instruction manual and the model name for this machine?

Peter,

You have a Brasilia Lady which is a Brasilia Club with a different case.  At $30,  you got a real bargain on a terrific machine.  I've emailed you the manual and a parts diagram.  Some parts are available from Ascaso (see their website for a parts diagram.)

Wesley,

I just came upon this forum as I too have bought a Brasilia Lady from a friend, but they had no manual.  Could you email me the manual and parts diagram?

Much appreciated,

I'll save Wesley the trouble as he recently sent to myself.  I'm e-mailing these to you now.

Pap-

I have a lady. The "water" button is to get hot water out of the steam wand. You do indeed have to hold the button down to get steam but the way it's supposed to work is that you get a good amount of steam after holding it down for say 30 seconds, but I have to hold it down the whole time- or at least have had to since I discovered steaming and microfoaming about 5 years after I bought the thing. At that point I discovered it's not a good machine for steaming, but it's a great machine for $30 seeing as I paid about 30 times that much!

Hey Furry - was it you who mentioned using a toothpick to block one of the holes on the steam wand?

If yes, which hole did you block (does it matter), do you leave some of it sticking outside the tip, and if doesn't quite work out, can you unscrew the tip to remove the toothpick?

Not sure if the steam wands vary on these models (I have the Club), but mine has 2 holes right at the bottom (not along the side) and the tip is thicker than the wand but seems to blend in (doesn't look like it comes off if you get my point).

Thanks.

Hi Guys

I have also recently acquired a 2nd hand Brasilia Lady in a garage sale. Unfortunately, Im not sure how to operate it as it doesnt have any instructions!!!

it makes a loud noise when you press the coffee button and there doesnt seem to be any water being drawn up

Can somebody help me?? Otherwise, is there somewhere in Sydney where I can get the machine serviced??

Regards

vincent_05 - I sent the instructions for the Brasilia Club, sent to me by Brasilia in Italy, to your e-mail address noted on your profile.

Kooka - add your e-mail and I'll send them to you.

Also be careful with posting your e-mail here, as they can be used inappropriately.  Some people add something like 'removethis' to the e-mail address.

For quick info, here are a few details (not complete, thorough, etc.):

- you prime the boiler by plugging in the machine, opening the steam valve, and hold the water button (2nd to last button on my machine...has drops to show the button)...do this without the machine on
- then turn on the machine to warm up the group
- press the brew button (coffee cup I think) once to start the cycle, then again to stop the cycle...this is also how you would flush the group (before and after)
- to steam, after brewing, open the steam valve to bleed the water, once steam comes out, close the valve
- hold down the steam button for 20 seconds (you hold it down to raise the temp in the boiler), then put the pitcher under the wand (continue to hold down that button...I hold it through the whole cycle), then open the steam valve...close it when you're done, also stop holding down the steam button
- if brewing again, hold down the water button (steam valve closed) to prime the boiler...

Good luck.
