Ah, so you can buy good quality coffee now for the machine? That would really add alot to the machine. I like the system, didn't like the coffee that could be bought. So you say there is a reusable filter now? There's nothing holding the thing back now!
How does this filter work ? Is it metal or plastic? Is it from Philips and where do they sell it?
I must hand it to Philips, they changed the drinking habbits of a whole country with one machine. And that's really amazing when you think about it!
It's plastic with a metal filter. Because of it's size it must be placed in the double serving filter. You have to be carefull not to overload it, or the machine will get stuck, and it's very hard to open when it's under pressure :s.

Well I don't think I can clear things up, but I can add a bit more information. (My GF are doing marketing for Phillips)
The Senseo is produced by Phillips, but marketed and partly branded by different coffee companies. In Denmark (and the rest of Scandinavia) Melitta is doing the marketing (and distribution).
They have managed to sweep the market in very short time by introducing the Senseo to all types of retailers.
The pods are not ESE, however they look like it. They are however slightly bigger.
The coffee produced from the senseo is Café Suisse and compareble to the Café Suisse of many superautos with coffee producing devices.
All in all I find it to be a good machine as a drip alternative for the single person or office use.
And for the design; It is quite good looking in real life

Anyone know where to get this filter, or a comparable one in the US? I have no interest in pods, but a big interest in trying to get this machine to work with fresh ground coffee.

Everything I've seen here and read elsewhere leads me to believe that this is more of a coffee machine than an espresso machine. That being said, Here's the Competition by Keurig. My Dad's got one in his office and while this homeroaster wasn't bowled over, it was FAR better than what will normally be found cooking down in office coffee pots worldwide. Now that could in part be due to the Green Mountain Coffee that was used, I was tickled none-the-less. From inventory control and quality control standpoints I was also impressed.

Hello there,
This filter is a patented invention from a dutch company called LMTO electonics. It has been tested bij an official research facility and the tests have shown that this filter is just as harmless for your Senseo as the normal coffeepads (although Philips may want to believe you otherwise)
With this filter you are able to use your own coffee with the Seneo, so you can home roast your coffee, grind the beans and make really frech coffee with your Senseo. This filter is already a huge succes in Germany.
The costs per cup of coffee can also be reduced dramatically because the costst per cup of coffee with using the normal coffee pads a relative high. There already have been some consumerprograms in the Netherlands that have tested this filter, and all concluded the same 'This is the least expensive solution for your Senseo'.
If you like to order this filter, take a look at www.cafe-filter.nl (also english language available) and just send an e-mail using the contactform if you are interested.
