Based on advice from friends and reviews on this and other sites, I'm interested in replacing my aging Rancilio with an Isomac Millennium or Tea. Does anyone in Canada carry these machines?

I don't know of any Canaidan dealers of Isomac machines, but it doesn't mean there are none.
However, in my opinion, Chriscoffee.com (out of New York) is, by far, the "ONLY" place to buy an Isomac from, although you can buy them from other Internet retailers as well. Chris's service (both before and after sale) is absolutely unmatched, far above and beyond the expectations of even the most demanding consumer. I can say this since I just bought a machine from him two weeks ago and have been in contact with him at least 6 times since the purchase as I work through the machine set-up.
Check out the following very recent postings to get a feel for his level of service, even when there are problems with the machine:
By the way, Chris's prices are the best I've seen as well. For example, I paid $1095 for my TEA and only $295 ($100 off) for my Mini since I bought them together. I'm very happy with my purchase decision.

Gianni (the guy who owns or runs Isomac in Italy) displayed at the Canadian Coffee and Tea Expo in Vancouver this year, but I don't know if he managed to actually sign a Canadian dealer. I really hoped he would, it's not a small expense to travel all the way from Italy to the west coast of Canada for a trade show.
But I haven't heard if he did manage to find any retailers / resellers up here.

Thanks for all the help. The issue I now have to run down is the level of duty that would be payable if I get a machine from Chris and bring it in to Canada.
It also has been suggested that the Giotto, which is available in Canada, would be an equally good choice. Are there any views on the merits of this suggestion?

Ditto - looking at the specs, the Giotto looks like a great machine. Very similar to the Tea or Millenium, but is discussed very little on the boards (as far as I can tell). Is it not liked?

I debated between the Giotto and TEA for a while and settled on the TEA because I had heard of some minor steam issues with the Giotto, as well as the fact that the TEA has an additional guage, and is a little narrower than the Giotto.
Both machines are very similar in design. Both machines seem to have minor quirks like all machines do. But you probably couldn't go wrong with either one.
Perhaps the most common 'quirk' of the TEA that I've seen is that it is known for getting very 'hot', requiring you to bleed off about 7 oz of water before pulling a shot if the machine has been idle for greater than 15 minutes. It looks like this is due to a design feature of the machine that has both advantages and disadvantages (see the following posting).

Hi, I saw a few Isomac machines at the Feama commercial showroom at thier store at Dupont and Christie, they also have the Giotto and the Giotto 2 there. I think thier prices are on the high side though.

Hi, I found a company that sells Isomacs in Toronto Canada, the company is called Globe Coffee Co. Inc. I believe they only carry the Tea and the Millennium sets. You can contact them through their website, www.globecoffee.com.
