I got two copies with the machine. Does that count ;>

I checked out the La Spaziale site to see if I could get more info there. There is a link to an S1 page, (http://www.laspaziale.com/prodotti/prodotti.htm) but it is empty. That seems to the only product page on their web site like that.

Your testing my memory here. I purchased the Rocky with Silvia and then I couldn't pass up the deal Chris had on the Mazzer Mini when I bought the Tea. My intention was to return the Mini if I preferred Rocky or sell Rocky if I preferred the Mini. I hadn't counted on option C: keep them both, but that's what happened. I use the Mini strictly for espresso and Doserless Rocky for vac pot, chemex, press pot, and grinding quantities for gifts.

However, if memory serves from the Silvia days it zeroes about -3 and I ground for espresso about +7. I have removed both the finger guard and the stop screw under the hopper.

Whenever I disassemble it for cleaning I scrub all the removable parts and then use compressed air to blow all the grounds out of the bottom burr, the grounds chute and everywhere else coffee lodges inside the housing. When I reassemble, I screw down the top burr until it just touches the bottom burr, then replace the hopper with the screws holes aligned such that the index mark is as close to zero on the hopper as possible which usually comes out about -3.

The Econo mode on the S1 works fine but not the way it is documented.  Between what the written manual states and/or what I had read on Coffee Geek, there are two differences.

1) Supposedly - with unit on, pressing Boiler button for 3 seconds shifts into ECONO mode.
Actually   - with unit on pressing Boiler button for 10 seconds shifts into ECONO mode as noted when ECON lamp comes on

2) Supposedly - above must be repeated each time the unit is turned on as S1 defaults to normal 20A mode with both boilers active.
Actually   - the S1 does remember it was in ECON mode and comes up in that mode if it was in that mode when set to Standby.

What MAY be true is that the S1 will forget the ECON setting if the unit is unplugged. I didn't try that.

Nope, I was wrong. The S1 remembers it was in Econo mode even if the plug is pulled.

Well, there is a nice large opening in the base right in the middle behind the drip tray!
