As much as I would like a Rancilio Silvia, I am taking the advise of many here to spend most of my budget on the grinder (likely a Rancilio Rocky). I am considering a refurbished Gaggia Coffee for about $225 (or a Classic if I can scrap together $390). The 6 mo. warranty vs. 2 years has wondering if saving $75 is worth it. What have been others experiences with refurbed equipment? Also, how are Aabree Coffee and WholeLatteLove in terms of after sale support (I'm assuming that the warranty comes from them, not Gaggia, correct?)?

I think you are making a good choice - as long as upgraditis doesn't hit you too soon. You could even get away with a lower end Gaggia if you wished to - should make pretty much the same quality coffee, just different aesthetics and amenities like reservoir size, etc. Some of the higher end Gaggias (Classic, Baby) have a three way valve which can be nice to prevent portafilter sneezes. I have not bought any refurbed Gaggias but I did buy an open box off Ebay and it's been great other than blowing the thermal fuse earlier today (gave me a scare till I narrowed it down to the fuse!).
If you are likely to upgrade some time in the near future just bite the bullet and do it now.

I bought a new Classic and Rocky from Wholelattelove about 7 months ago and they have both been working fine. I luckily haven't needed to call in any problems yet so I can't help you with customer service, but I've been pretty satisfied with the equipment. The only thing I didn't like about the Gaggia was it's cheap and poorly designed steam wand.

1) Go to Amazon and do a search on "Gaggia Classic." There are currently two listed under $400 (shipping included, 6 mo. war.), both are reconditioned units from Whole Latte Love. Curiously, these don't show up on the WLL website. I contacted WLL sales and they said that I needed to order through Amazon to get that price (couldn't order direct over the phone).
2) Head to Ebay and do the same search. There are several reconditioned units (6 mo. war.) listed by Aabree Coffee for under $400 (shipping included).
