Posted Fri Apr 11, 2008, 10:36pm Subject: How to clean Andrea Premium OPV valve?
The OPV valve on my Andrea Premium seems to giving me trouble. When I adjust it down to 9-10 bars max, it keeps shifting back to 13 bar max. Generally it lasts at the 9-10 setting for a few shots, then reverts to higher brew pressure. Should I just replace it or is there a way to clean it out. I have searched for information on cleaning these valves and cant seem to find any info specifically about the AP OPV valve. Does anyone have any info or suggestions about this type of problem?

I think it would be useful for other Andreja Premium owners if you just posted the answers to Jon's questions in the forum - in case we ever encounter this type of problem ourselves.
These forums are my first stop when I have any questions regarding my espresso machine or grinder. A few minutes spent searching, or asking the question is time well spent given the willingness that people have in providing information.

Just about everything you would want to know about the main OPV valve types is covered here (the AP valve, or one that is almost identical) is also in the article:
cleaning would simply be a soak in citric acid solution and a gentle rub of the gasket. Of course if this doesn't solve the problem...then simply replace it, it's cheap enough.
