Subject: LaMarzocco portafilter and Rancilio S27. Will it work?

Hi,
I am thinking of getting a La Marzocco portafilter for my S27. Will it work unmodified or are the group heads different?
Thanks,
Joe

The portafilters are not interchangable.

I thought the rancilio's are E61 compatible?  I just got a LM portafilter for my expobar (E61 compatible).  Needed a bit of grinding on the 'ears', but after shaving those down a bit it works great!

Why not buy a portafilter that fits?

Rancilio are E61 group heads so it might fit, but as stevier said you may have to shave/file the ears a little.
The Rancilio naked portafilters are quite popular and fit most E61 group heads.

The LM portafilters are pretty sweet... The handle is bent down so when you put it on the counter, it lays flat.  Also, its much more massive than any other I've seen....

Only the double LM portafilter sits flat, the bottomless doesn't and the single topples over. I have a Rancilio S24 and a LM machine. I tried to swap portafilters but they are not interchangable without modification. IMHO I don't think it's worth the effort to modify the LM to fit the S27.
