Subject: OPV adjustment on a E61 HX

After killing my Silvia (brew switch, steam switch and hot water switch all on on a pretimer for an hour) and finally had enough of dual purpose single boiler machines, I decided to venture into the HX world and the only one in my affordable range is the Magister Stella. Opened up the Stella and it looks fairly standard inside, easily adjustable pressurestat etc. Testing out the brew pressure with a PF pressure gauge, it was showing 12 bar pressure. I could locate the OPV, which looks exactly like the one in the LaScala Butterfly, hexagonal brass looking thing. How do you adjust the pressure on one of them?

There should be an exposed screw on the OPV, turn counter-clockwise to reduce pressure.

I'm not sure about that machine, but here're the instructions for adjusting brew pressure on a Quickmill Anita and Andreja.

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps I should have taken a photo of what the OPV looks like. Until I do that, this is the link to the Lascala Butterfly insides one of which has a pic of the OPV.

Here's a pic of the OPV (or at least what I think is the OPV anyway). Can you please confirm that the horizontal hexagonal shaped brass cylinder thing with the nylon tube connected to the left is the OPV? If it is, how do I adjust that to lower the brew pressure?

Looks like it could be.  You can confirm by putting in a blank filter disk, running the pump, and making sure there's water flowing out that nylon tube and back into the reservoir.
If so, it looks a lot like the one on my old gaggia.  Kind of a pain to adjust, it would involve taking off the nylon tube, unscrewing the top nut, and inside there's another nut that compresses the spring (what you adjust).  See here: http://www.ruizs.org/archives/46

When I put a blind filter and lock it and raise the lever to get the pump running, I expect to see water coming out of the tube that comes out of the OPV. But is it normal to have water dripping out into the drip tray through the bottom of the group? (by bottom of the group I mean the bit that water flows out through while backflushing or when the lever is down).
