Espresso: Gaggia Baby Class D

Subject: No hot water from nozzle (New Gaggia Baby Class D)

Gorgeous new Baby arrived this afternoon.  All seems well - can produce steam, can make coffee - except there's no hot water from the steam nozzle.

After letting the machine heat up, I turned the steam knob as the instructions stated, and I received an initial splutter, and then mild steam which quickly dissipated (the pump doesn't activate for the hot water, as the manual suggests it should).  I pressed the steam button, and (once it was ready) produced vast quantities of steam like I've never seen before!  Switching back to get hot water, however, and it goes back to the short splutter/mild steam - no hot water from the nozzle.  I also made an espresso OK (pump kicked in and all that), so it appears the water's flowing and the pump's working.

So, I have mega-steam from the nozzle, and heated water coming through the brewing head, but just no hot water from the nozzle.  I haven't had a Gaggia before, so don't know if it's me or the machine.  I think I've followed the instructions, but then again I've never actually been that good at following instructions.

Can anyone advise?

Generic e-tailer - wouldn't expect much from them, so haven't contacted them yet.  Thought I'd find more expert advice here...
