Hi all:
I just picked up a used Gaggia Dandy off of Ebay for a dandy price of $60. I couldn't find any information on this machine before the purchase, other than a few others in the past decade asking for info as well, but I figured for the price it's worth the risk. The exterior of the machine looks very similar to the Espresso model, the only difference being the order of the switches. The on button is on top, and the pump button is on the bottom. I figured the internals are similar as well, but I noticed one difference after making my first (poor) shot on the machine. It seems to have a 3 way solenoid valve. After I turned off the pump, a burst of steam shot from a hole near the grouphead down towards the drip tray. Since I moving up from a Krups Gusto (a fine cheap machine in its own right), I'm not used to this feature, but I assume it's the pressure relief valve to keep the puck dry and allow immediate removal of the PF. Does anyone in cyberland have specific info on this machine, such as replacement parts from other Gaggia models, years produced, etc?
