Ah I will upgrade to a real machine later this year maybe the Pasquini Livia or Rocket Cellini.
I put mine in a box and took it back to Williams and Sonoma. Its worth a try..the way I looked at it they had my money....and I had their piece of junk.If you do and you ask nicely see what they say. Then politely ask for a manager and explain your case that your just not happy. Be prepared to go up the line and see what they say. Its really nothing to a huge company like BBB...they send it back and get credit.

This is becoming sillier and sillier, and the thread should be closed down now, before it becomes sillier still, and tweedledumb and tweedle even dumber post messages about the BES860 needing a good grinder to match it with or unpressurised baskets from Seattle Coffee Gear. If anyone sane reads this, they will realise that mixxalot and Iluvdabean have NEVER owned the BES860 model. Iluvdabean in his first post in this thread claimed to have owned one, and was unaware that it was the new model. If mixxalot really owned one or looked at the advertising, he would realise that it comes with both pressurized and normal portafilter baskets. The story about his having purchased unpressurized portafilter baskets from Seattle Coffee Gear for his BES860 machine (yes, the Barista Express) is an exaggeration to put it politely. When I am not polite, my posts are removed. This whole thread is a glorious example of how bad threads can become on coffee websites. The only worse examples can be found on an Australian website.

The only thing I find silly, Bill, is your amazingly dedicated, obstinate and unshakable faith and loyalty to Breville -- which is what prompted me to ask what you do for a living. No one short of a company executive (or major shareholder) would continue praising a machine so despised by the overwhelming majority of people on this and other coffee forums.

On the one hand, there are countless numbers of people posting over many years about how Brevilles are crap -- really cool looking crap, but crap nonetheless -- and how they returned them, replaced them, threw them away, whatever; on the other hand, there is Bill the Royal Defender of the Breville, staunchly (some might say "stubbornly") maintaining the reputation of Breville, a bulwark against all criticism from near and far . . .
And so I ask myself, Why? Whatever happened to . . .

So I have the Breville barista express for 3 month now. Drinking about 3 shots a day. I am so in love with this machine that I decided to search the internet for someone with the same machine to share a great joy experience with this machine. First the temperature is ok, especially when you add milk, it does not matter. Second because you can not change the numbers of bar and it has to give out its maximum pressure, which is ideal for 2 shots, you will not get the same results with 1 cup, it is not setup for that. But thanks to the pressurized filter you can pull 1 shot cup perfect. Get me a machine that you can pull using 1 cup filter and 2 cup filter shots with the same pressure bars and same grind.
