I pulled the trigger and purchased the Rocket Espresso Cellini Evoluzione and Baratza Vario Grinder from Seattle Coffee Gear. It should arrive in about 5 days. Will be back with questions and feedback after I give it a trial few weeks.

As far as justification for my own equipment, I don't feel any need to go there (there is no good way to justify a GS3 with any reasonable person). But if you want to argue the point then please feel free, I'll read the posts whilst sipping my cappucino. ;-)
LOL, Jon! Same problem I had switching mix speakers for my studio. The wife wondering why as no one was complaining about my mixes/mastering. then why the HUGE price for smaller speakers? I had no answer.
Back on point, there is also the fact that the human being IN FRONT of the machine must be on top of his/her game as well. A shiny new $1200 + machine, in the hands of a less than a technically proficient home barista will crank out the same lousy espresso as a much lesser machine...only MORE consistently. LOL

It's a "coffeegeek" forum. What do you think the answer would be?
The Silvia (or even less) is MORE than enough machine for 99% of espresso drinkers (as sales would indicate). I expect like most, your mind is made up on the more expensive machine and you're simply posting here for justification. And that's fine. Just save yourself some pain and don't use the "improved temperature stability" argument with your wife! :-)
So just go for it and we'll avoid the inevitable SBDU to HX to DB upgrade justification posts that have already been written several times before.
