If you go to www.cuisinart.com , they have a parts page for the EM-200 (parts are compatible with the EM-100 as well)

I modified my double basket which is part EM-100FBD $13.00

I did mine with no backup, but you can bet that I've already got one as well as a spare portafilter holder (part # EM-100FH
$17.00) on order.

Hope that helps.

I linked to the cuisinart parts page where you can order spare filters (double walled only I'm afraid) and portafilter holder, but apparently, the forum thought it was spam.

So, I'll just tell you that if you go to cuisinart.com and go to the parts page and look under "coffee bar", there will be a parts page for the EM-200 where you can get spare double baskets for $13.00 and spare portafilter holders for $17.00.

So, I'm so glad I found this thread! It really helped and I think I'm going to have my husband dremmel out the bottom of my portafilter too! I have a replacement already in the shoping card on cuisinarts website. I'm wondering how I am suposed to use those cleaning pins? I haven't figured that out yet?

To clean out the hole on the steaming wand, I think.

I actually just found a single walled basket that fit the em200. (a fine gentlemen from youtube put me on the right path)

It's from Breville
(link)
http://www.brevilleusa.com/single-wall-filters.html

I ordered these and they fit the EM100 and EM200 just fine.
My major issue is that I just can't seem to get my grind settings right now.
I think I need a better Burr grinder. *sigh* it never ends.

I also took my portafilter into a local machine shop. They are going to make it bottomless for me (cost me $10)
once this is all done I'll let you guys *& gals* know the results.

I've been thinking about picking up this machine (found it refurbished for a great price).  It seems to have the same functionality as the Breville die cast machines and uses the same filters which makes me wonder if the machines are basically the same.

Awesome find. Thanks for adding that info!
Unfortunately, yet another item I can't access in the Canadian version of their online store. Hurumph!

You could look for a different portafilter that uses non pressurized baskets.  I believe there is a Krups portafilter that fits the EM-200, and if it does, you could use those Krups baskets.  Might be worth while to take your portafilter to a coffee shop and find a different portafilter with the same size and ridges.

Ya, that's the discussion at the beginning of this thread. I tried all kinds of ideas. Cutting the second layer with the dremel seems like my best option still.

Good luck with that. I destroyed mine on my "$50 quisinart work desperation machine" which is an EM-100.
