Hey Aaron, and thanks for the post! If i understand the single/double wall concept, I think the cheapest stock single-wall (unpressurized) machine is the Gaggia Color for ~$200.

You can use depressurized baskets in machines like the Ec155 with a touch of tinkering. Just remember, a good (usually $200+) grinder is essential in getting good shots.

thanks for the quick response, do you know anything about the EC702, I already have the capresso infinity 560 but have yet to have a reason to try it on fine settings

I just found this thread...in case any one is still interested in answers to the OP question, I have this exact setup and I use setting 10C with Lavazza Tiera beans.   I've recently switched to the La Pavoni basket (which is not in stock anymore at SCG or OrphanEspresso apparently) and have gotten down to 8C as my grind with the same beans.
