Hi all,
Has anyone here tried the Crossland CC1? I'm considering it as an alternative to the Rancilio Silvia, which everyone says is very finicky about the grind.

I, for one, would be interested in what people think of the machine after having it for a while. I'm considering it (along with the LeLit PID machine and Ascaso Uno Pro) and I have read all of those threads and I really don't have much of an idea of what people think of the machine. They love it because of Bill and the feature set, but there aren't a whole lot of in depth reviews or commentary on the machine.
My big problem with the machine is how it looks. I'd be willing to forgive that if I were to read that it's better than, say, the Rancilio Silvia. The Silvia is the first machine that I thought I wanted simply because of how much has been written about it, the fantastic community around it, and the great hacks and mods. In fact as I write this I'm wondering if maybe the Silvia really is the machine I should get. *sigh*. Too many choices.

The good news is that CG moderator Jon Rosenthal has organized a "road show" in which a CC1 will be passed around among several capable reviewers. The CC1 is still very fresh on the market, so this project should add considerably to the knowledge base when the results start to appear.

One comment gleaned from people I trust who have personally used the CC1: the CC1 cedes fit and finish, a long track record and a wide base of knowledge to the Sylvia, but it has terrific potential due to its advances. Assuming the CC1 lives up to what we all hope, its features will win over a big chunk of its market, but many will still choose the Sylvia. In summary, a competitor but not a killer.
As the organizer of the road trip, you might ask me about that.... We have just started, and the machine should be en route to the second reviewer. Once a few of us have had an opportunity to play with it then we'll probably start a thread for comments
