No scalding showers from mine either. Maybe the rubber gasket in the groiuphead is not seated properly?

It isn't spraying from around the grouphead. The gasket is fine. It's very energetic water coming out of the pf spouts. Next time I use it, I'll shoot a video and post a link.

For the people who are adjusting their pstats - why are you doing it? I assumed it was for temperature control and perhaps that's what would fix this.

the hot water spraying is if you are not using a bottomless... the ones that are not getting this are most likely using the bottomless.....

adjusting the p-stat will NOT eliminate this.... BUT.... why don't you simply put a cup under it, lift the cup until it covers the spout then turn it on. Dump the water down the sink...that way you won't have to clean it up or empty the tray a bunch of extra times. I use the cup I am going to pull into. This preheats the cup too. Heating the cup like this also eliminates the cups falling off the top. Don't put them there and they can't fall off.

adjusting the p-stat lowers the temp of the water in the boiler. This will reduce the amount of water it takes to do the cooling flush. However too low will leave you with maybe a little trouble with frothing. I adjusted mine twice. The first time I had it a bit low.

Still no luck with my leaky group head. We are trying to work it out, but there is a stubborn nut at the top that I can't get loose. Unfortunately I have scratched the crap out of the group head whilst trying, also.

Rob, I just got my Motta. You said that you use it without any of the holes plugged, right? Do you hold the want vertically, in the center, or angled and close to the edge?

I adjust the wand so that its straight up and down. Hold the pitcher so wand is in center and barely under milk...let a bit of air in when stretching. When its to right volume sink wand almost to bottom. When done sit the pitcher down...clean the wand, then come back to pitcher and tap it on counter a couple times....swirl a bit and it should be about perfect. (I keep pitcher in freezer)

I have never plugged any of the holes.

Ok, thanks.

Just made my first attempt...It was ok, but the foam was a bit bubbly and not at all integrated. I guess it's just a matter of practice. Hopefully Jim is making progress with the two hole tips.

Think I may finally be ready to write a review for this thing.  I've had it over a month now (first machine ever) and have develop a fair amount of skill with it.  I'm running it "stock" - 4 hole tip and not messing with the pressure.  I've learned to simply trust the steam wand when it comes to milk.  I was getting too much foam at first, but now I just dunk it about 1/2 inch below the surface at let it go.  It really does develop a nice microfoam which is really distinct once I slurp up all the tasty drink to see tiny bubbles clinging to the surface of the cup.  Last night my wife had some French pressed coffee with straight-up milk, and she complained about how lousy it was; she has become accustomed to the steamed milk I can produce with the Cuadra.

if you put in too much air.... or go a little long you will get some of the dry foam on top. So don't get carried away with adding air and don't go too long.

I'm in the same boat with Rob in regards to technique - it seems to be doing to trick for me too!

I further adjusted my P-stat and I think I have found a sweet spot for my tastes. It was a small adjustment back upward, but it seems like small adjustments around the 1 bar mark have considerable effect. I am using a bit less water to flush, but I am getting better steam pressure and good microfoam once again. I have been making some notable lattes with Counter Coulture La Forza this week.

I am still annoyed by the cup warmer. I looked at it a bit more this morning and have a plan for how I want to modify it. My plan is to remove or straighten the rear rests (circled in red in the photo below) and cut and bend forward some new tabs in the SS of the back panel piece (blue lines in the photo below). The result will be to lower the back end of the cup warmer tray a bit, removing the forward slope. It seems to me that they should have extended the stock ones a bit lower before putting the 90 degree bend in them.

Thoughts on why this would not work?

Also, has anyone descaled their machine yet? How does the fact that we were told to only remove 4 oz of water through the hot water wand at one time change the way we should go about descaling? The general instructions I saw talk about moving a considerable amount of water through the hot water wand. This seems like it would be painfully slow 4 ounces at a time.
