Hi all,
I ran some water through the group to heat it up and caught it in my mug to preheat that as well. I noticed it was a little brown and there were grinds in it (I guess I had ground too finely at some point trying to salvage stale beans). They weren't in the basket so I figured that the pressure relief valve pulled some grinds up, So I ran a backflush disk through the machine and cleaned the basket and portafilter. But I'm still finding grinds.
Is it possible that I need to do more cleaning, maybe taking the screen off or something? Is it okay to use the blind basket to backflush (sans detergent) without the screen in place?

It is normal to get some grounds behind the shower screen. A plain water backflush at the end of each session (or when the machine will be left idling for any notable length of time) will help keep them from sticking back in there. Check the manual, but a detergent backflush might be in order.
