Greetings all. I have recently purchased a Gaggia Color and would very much like to be rid of the pressurised filter baskets that now appear to come as standard with the machine.
I approached the online retailer I purchased from who had no idea that a 'standard' basket even existed, and couldn't tell me whether or not the 'double shot basket' they have on their website is pressurised or not!
I then ordered a generic set of baskets from a different supplier online -the single fits the PF nicely, the double does not. Looks like I need the genuine Gaggia item.
Can anyone in NZ tell me where to source a Gaggia double shot basket? Google gives me plenty of o'seas options, but the one supplier listed here in NZ (Espressotec) don't answer emails.
Hi there and welcome to coffeegeek.I'm in NZ too and never had much luck with espressotec.How does the Gaggia double you ordered not fit the portafilter? is it too deep? Back when i had Gaggia machines i ordered a few parts off Ian little in Christchurch;
Thanks so much for the tip - I've emailed IRL and will let you know how I get on. The double basket I ordered online was a generic one and is indeed too deep - only by a couple of mm, but enough to make it unusable.
I've managed to pull some nice shots using the non-pressurised single basket - have now been searching for a double for three weeks. It wouldn't annoy me so much if I didn't keep forgetting to replace the cruddy little 'crema pin' when switching from non pressurised to pressurised, which results in twin jets of coffee all over the room.
