When I engage the pump I just hear a click and nothing happens. I switched this pump out with a spare and the spare works fine. So my question is, what might be wrong with the pump that's not working? It's a fairly new pump.
Do you know if the click you hear is coming from the pump and not from the 3-way valve? I don't know what your machine is or how it operates - but on a gaggie with a 3-way (like the Classic), the 3-way also engages when you hit the brew switch unless you also have the steam switch engaged. So if yours behaves that way, do you also hear the loud click when you have the steam switch engaged and you turn on the brew switch?
I ask because if your pump is making a loud click but no vibrating sound - that would sound like the coil is getting energized but the parts inside are stuck and not vibrating.
But if there is no current getting to the coil (the electromagnet that vibrates the pump 50-60 times a second) then it could be a burnt out coil in the pump or there is a protection device on most vibe pumps that breaks the circuit if the pump gets overheated. That device could have failed. I'm not positive if your Ulka has that device - the Invensys pumps do for sure and I've got a really old Ulka that does not have it - but I thought the newer Ulka pumps do.
I wasn't suggesting the 3-way had a problem ... I was trying to determine if the CLICK you reported hearing was the normal click of the 3-way (that you could now hear because your pump isn't making any sound at all). Or if your pump was actually producing a click - which would help to determine if your pump has a mechanical problem (stuck plunger) or if your pump has an electrical problem.
