Hello All,
We use a Rancilio Classe 8 that is about 6 years old at our shop and have concerns about scale buildup.
- Use softener but it hasn't always been changed out frequently enough - Steam wand isn't performing as well as it should
I have seen many articles explaining how to run citric acid through the machine about every 6 months to descale it, but these relate to much smaller machines like a silvia.
Is there any procedures that I should begin doing to clean the machine out safely after so long and continue to do to keep scale away?

Hello I posted a similar reply to a question asked in s thread on the next page entitled 'Subject: Tear down, descale and reassemble 3 Group Aurelia'
Pretty easy to follow although as calblacksmith and coffeenoobie correctly explain, there are companies you can bring in to do this. They will most likely take your machine off site and leave you a loan machine while the work is carried out as to not affect your trade to bad.

Thank you, that is very helpful.
However I am also looking for a guide on how to do the bi-yearly descaling without the tear down. Do you have any sources with a clear description of a safe process for this?
