Hi all, I just got my hands on a used Brewtus IV with the water reservoir and vibe pump. I'm having an intriguing issue, and wondering if anyone has any idea what it may be. The machine seems to work great; when coffee is put into the portafilter and the pump is engaged, the pressure slowly ramps up to 9.5 bar. However, when you engage the pump without any back pressure (ie no coffee in the portafilter), the pump maxes out at 2.5 bars and won't go any higher than that. I have seen videos of this machine in use, and the pressure from the pump in those videos goes up to 9.5 bars with or without back pressure. Also, it seems that once the three way valve is engaged, the pressure gauge becomes stuck at 9.5 bars until the handle is turned slightly on. Is this a problem with the pump? The gauge? Could it be scale? The machine is only one year old..
It works perfectly aside form this one oddity so I'm not too concerned, but very curious. Thoughts?

I have a version 3 Minore which is the the Australian version of the Brewtus. I can tell you that the way it is behaving is perfectly normal, mine is exactly the the same. You may also notice when the brew boiler is heating the presure gauge will also rise until the lever is activated.

I used to have an Anita with vibe pump and was told that without coffee or blank in the PF, the pressure readings were not accurate and could/would be all over the map (which they were). Agree with previous two posters -- normal operation.
