Very interesting! I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience? I haven't done that mod. Although I think I'm getting great microfoam, I do find it layers on top of the milk, and it doesn't seem to last as long as I'd like. Also, my wife seems to still think I got better microfoam with the Silvia! Would one be able to replace the tube if they changed their mind, or is this a done deal?
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread.
Can't you just measure the wand's outside diameter?

No worries and ya I can measure, but I wanted to buy it online right now and i'm not at home :-).
But seriously, take out that tube and everything is awesome with steaming milk. After reading some stuff on other forums, i was about to get the New Isomac 2 hole tip and adapter (around $25) but saw some suggestions about taking out the tube helped. So I decided to try that first before buying and it solved my problem.
I used to work on a Astoria Plus 4 You in my barista days, and the steam reminds me of that caliber now. I think the tubes just make the steam wet which produces poor micro foam.

cool, thanks! I've heard that about the tubes before, now that you mention it.
totally understand the not at home thing. I was going to say before that I'd measure it for you, but I'm not at home, and suspected that might have been the answer. I bet you could call CCS and they'd tell you over the phone. If you get it figured out, will you please post it?

I removed the tube yesterday and immediately noticed a huge increase in steam power.
Regarding the rubber sleeve...it's 10mm and I've ordered one from espresso parts. Of course, until I get it, I will likely continue to burn my fingers (yeah, twice so far, but not too bad at least).

Sweet! Thanks for checking that out, totally forgot about it when I got home yesterday. Right now I'm using a binder clamp on the wand to move it around.
Let me know how the milk steaming goes, it's a little faster steaming time but I think the practice pays off with nice micro foam.

you're welcome!
I started another thread about my frothing experience, under espresso Q&A. I called it something like Duetto II steam improvement. Would appreciate your thoughts there, actually.
