Hi there. I am new to this group and to home barista. I just purchased a vintage quick mill espresso machine. Still trying to figure out how to make a good shot....currently, while they taste good, they are thin and without crema. Experimenting with various grinds (bought a hario hand grinder), tamps. The most curious part is the water volume control knob on the machine. Not sure what to do with that. Would love to ehar from others with advice on similar machines or anythig related.

If I remember correctly it is a pump regulator : more water = lower temperature, less water = higher temperature (that's a thermoblock machine), it would be useful if you can post a picture or at least specify type of machine If your shots are thin and without crema you grinding too coarse or using small amount of coffee, and that you can easily check weighing your grounds (make sure it is 7 grams) Ciao, Pietro
