Posted Fri Jun 15, 2012, 5:55pm Subject: BES900 - how hot is the cup warmer on the top?
Hello Everyone ... just joined up and this is my first post here...
I want to buy the Breville BES900 because a major store near me has it on special for $1199 and it seems to give so much for the price. I've researched quite a bit on this site and it looks like the machine for me ..... but it will be my very first coffee machine.
My only concern is that I have no choice but to put it directly below overhead cupboards. There is only 30mm ( inch and a quarter ) clearance between the cup warmer on the top of the machine and the underside of the melamine cupboard/shelf where a microwave sits.
Can anyone please tell me ...... just how hot does the top of the BES900 get in use. Can you put your hand on it and leave it there ? Has anyone actually measured the temperature of the metal plate on top ?
I cannot find any recommendation from Breville about how much clearance this machine should have above it when in use.
I'm worried a hot machine might eventually damage or warp the chipboard above it.
Any advice would be appreciated ............... many thanks ........... espressomonster
