Last week, the pump in my Silvia started to bog down while brewing (pump quieted noticeably during extraction, extraction time got a lot longer). So after searching a bit, I figured it needed a good descaling, so I took it out, took it apart, and soaked it in vinegar overnight. Rinsed it, put it all back together, and primed it (which took a while, but I eventually got water coming out of the steam wand and brewing group).
The problem now is that after running enough water through it to kick the boiler on, it's almost like the boiler isn't filing back up. After it cycles off and I turn the brew switch on, it flushes a bunch of steam out of the group but barely any water. It usually takes 30 seconds or so for flow to start again, and it's under barely any pressure - I get nothing out of a loaded portafilter, not even a drip.
I'm not sure where to go next with this - searching didn't really turn anything up that matches this issue.

Normal is a relative word, many factors will determine the life of it, it depends example: how often you backflush, how often you remove and clean/unclog the showerscreen and basket, how much use the machine gets, how hard is your water, and how often you descaled, a pump like many other components is a part that you cannot give a black on white life span

My Silvia is a 2004 and Im on my second pump, but I killed the first one with a timer mishap. But the bottom line is that if the pump is still pumping out water with adequate volume and pressure than its not the problem anyway. I have not been fanatical about the maintenance on my Silvia but so far the only failure has been the pump.Sounds like a pump failure to me. Don
