Sorry to revive this somewhat old thread. After using my depressurized portafilter, I now am looking to purchase either a regular or bottomless portafilter, probably from Cerinicoffee. I'll have to put back the pressure mechanism on the current portafilter, for other family members who may not want to bother with tamping etc.
Anyway, what are your experiences with the portafilters? I would love to get the botttomless to improve my technique, as well as having the pleasure of looking at the extraction. However, I have hesitations for the reasons below.
- Some comments here say the crema is too frothy, and that texture/flavor from a regular spouted portafilter is better. - Coffee jets coming from the portafilter if tamping is incorrect. How often does this happen? I make my double first thing in the morning before work, and having a coffee mess will take more clean up time than I can afford. Of course, I still need, late or not, to repack the portafilter to make another shot, since I'm quite incapacitated without it.
Also, saeco outlet seems to have a cheaper portafilter. Click Here (www.saecooutlet.com) Does anybody have experience with this one compared to the other design offered by Cerini?
I sure would appreciate anyone's comments. Thank you.

Hi,
Sorry to revive this thread, but it's exactly the right one...
So I bought this Naked Portafilter for my Saeco Aroma. I grind using a Vario. For some reason, there are some leaks when brewing - it's splashing all over here and there... When I use the depressurized porta filter, it does not happen.
So I suspect the problem is some adjustment in Saeco's naked portafilter is wrong...
