I am new to home espresso. I have a silvia with PID and Preciso grinder. My espresso tastes ok, nothing great, so I'd appreciate any tips.
I used a double basket, 15 grams. The resulting extraction was 39 grams. The PID has a pre infusion and then 25 seconds of water output.
It looks like the extraction was relatively even, but the color turned blond quickly, although I'm not exactly sure at what point I should have ended the extraction.
Please let me know your thoughts. I appreciate it.

Unless my monitor is decalibrated i suspect the color is too light, suggesting one of two thigs, channeling or temp too low. I am almost sure the xpresso tastes a bit sour.

your grind definitely needs to be tightened up. looks like it could be a bit sour. Usually my best shots start out really slow with a couple drops the 1st 3-7 sec and then picks up more speed around 15 sec then I end the shot anywhere from 26-40 sec. I personally don't think a you can put put an average time like 27 sec for an extraction . I always get my best shots by just watching the extraction and stoping it as soon as it starts to get any blonde or looks 2 watery. If you were a barista you would want more of a formula but i routinely get better shots @ home than I normally ever get from so called good cafe's by doing the above. Experience will help you the most. Try pulling a fast shot then tighten up your dose and put about 18g or so and try to pull a really slow shot that is 34 sec plus before blonding. That will give you a good feel for the coffee and what you like then you can experiment with higher or lower temps and see what works best for that blend
